Effective October 30, 2026 · Standalone Daybreak app for iPhone
Daybreak is made by Gabriel O’Leary. This policy describes how the standalone iPhone app handles information, and how this website and support communications differ.
Your Health data and app selections stay on your iPhone.
Daybreak uses your step count to calculate earned screen time. It stores your chosen apps, allowance, step progress, settings and session state locally. Its Screen Time extensions share this local storage to apply your limits.
The standalone app does not send this information to the developer or an app server. It has no account requirement, advertising SDK or third-party analytics SDK.
Basic usage analytics
Analytics-enabled versions send app opens, completed setup, successful screen-time session starts and turning off limits to the developer’s GoBoard server at goleary.com. Each event includes its time, app version, build number, a random event ID and a random installation ID so retries are not counted twice and returning installations can be counted. We do not include steps, Health records, selected apps or websites, allowances, names, email addresses or advertising identifiers.
Events wait locally when offline. Events from the blocking screen upload when Daybreak next opens. The developer’s server hides events older than 90 days from the dashboard and removes them when new uploads arrive. Local pending events expire after 90 days and are capped at 1,000. Network infrastructure receives the IP address needed to handle requests; the analytics event store does not save IP addresses. This information helps the developer understand whether people use Daybreak.
Apple Health
With your permission, Daybreak reads Steps from Apple Health. It does not request other Health data, write to Health, or upload your step count. Steps are used only to calculate and display your walking progress and earned time.
You can change or revoke Daybreak’s Health access in Apple Health or iOS settings. Revoking permission stops future reads; it does not delete your original Steps records from Apple Health.
Screen Time
With your permission, Daybreak uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks to let you choose apps, categories and websites and apply limits. Your selections are stored on your device using Apple-provided selection tokens.
You can turn limits off in Daybreak or revoke its Screen Time access in iOS settings.
Support and feedback
If you email support, Gabriel receives your email address and the information you choose to include, and uses it to respond and investigate the issue. Please avoid sending Health records or other sensitive information that isn’t necessary for your request. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing the same address.
Feedback or diagnostic information you choose to share through TestFlight or Apple’s services may be made available to the developer under Apple’s terms and your sharing settings. This is separate from Daybreak uploading your step data.
This website
These pages are hosted on goleary.com. The website uses Google Analytics, Umami and OneDollarStats to understand visits, separately from the iPhone app. Website analytics and hosting providers may process ordinary visit information such as pages viewed, browser or device information and network request information; Google Analytics may use cookies. The app does not send your Steps or Screen Time selections to these services.
If you follow a link to Apple or email support, the destination service’s own privacy practices also apply.
Removing information
Removing Daybreak removes its local app data according to iOS behavior. Device backups and Apple Health storage are managed by Apple and your device settings. Daybreak does not delete your original Health records. Apple separately operates the App Store, TestFlight, Health and system backup services under its own privacy terms.
Changes and contact
If Daybreak’s data practices change, this page will be updated with a new effective date. For privacy questions or support requests, email [email protected].
