A little help
along the way.
Daybreak turns walking into time for the apps you choose. Here’s how to get the most out of it.
Getting started
Open the Daybreak beta invitation on your iPhone and follow the TestFlight instructions. In Daybreak, connect Screen Time, choose the apps you want to limit, and set your daily plan. Connect Apple Health to earn time from walking, then confirm your plan to turn on limits.
The beta has limited spots. If the invitation is full or you need help installing, email us below.
How do I earn time?
Allow Daybreak to read Steps in Apple Health. Choose a step goal and a maximum walking reward. With the default plan, each 250 steps earns one minute, up to 40 minutes at 10,000 steps, plus 5 starting minutes. You earn whole minutes along the way; you don’t have to finish your goal first.
Why haven’t my steps updated?
Open Daybreak to refresh your earnings, or tap the refresh icon on the walking card. Check that Apple Health has recorded your steps and that Daybreak has permission to read Steps. Background updates follow Apple’s schedule and may arrive later.
How do I use my minutes?
Open a selected app and tap Start on the blocking screen. All selected apps share your allowance. Sessions count real elapsed time, even if you switch apps or lock your phone. End a session early in Daybreak to return unused time.
How do I change my apps or daily plan?
Open settings with the sliders button. Change your selected apps, starting minutes, walking reward or step goal, then tap Done to save and enable limits. End an active session before changing your plan.
After changing the app selection, finish Apple’s picker and tap Done in Daybreak’s settings to save it.
When does my allowance reset?
At the local time you choose in Settings; midnight is the default. Steps, rewards and spending reset together. Unused time doesn’t carry over. Changing the reset time keeps your current balance until the next reset.
How do I stop blocking apps?
Tap Turn limits off in Daybreak’s settings. You can also revoke Daybreak’s Screen Time access in iOS settings. Turning limits off and on does not refill spent time.
